Community Guidelines

Please review these guidelines to help keep LinkNow safe, respectful, and welcoming for all users.

Our Community Values

LinkNow is a proximity-based connection platform for adults (18+) designed to help users make meaningful connections in shared spaces through various types of interactions.

  • Safety & Consent: Prioritize personal safety and respect others' boundaries in every interaction.
  • Respectful Communication: Speak thoughtfully, listen actively, and keep conversations constructive.
  • Authenticity: Be honest about who you are, what you want, and how you show up.
  • Inclusion: Welcome people of all backgrounds and support a welcoming environment.
  • Accountability: Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on others.

1. Safety First

Meeting Safety

  • Always Meet in Public: When meeting connections from the app, choose public, well-populated areas during daytime hours when possible.
  • Inform Someone: Tell a friend or family member about your plans, including who you're meeting, where, and when.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something feels uncomfortable, prioritize your safety and leave immediately.
  • Stay in Control: Meet on your own terms and maintain control over your transportation.
  • Never Share Financial Information: Don't send money or share financial details with people you meet on the app.

Platform Safety

  • Age Requirement: All users must be 18 years or older to use LinkNow. Age misrepresentation will result in immediate account termination.
  • Report Issues: Report inappropriate behavior, harassment, or safety concerns immediately using in-app reporting tools.
  • Use Safety Features: Block users, control your visibility, and manage your connections as needed.
  • Respect Privacy: Never share personal information, such as home address, workplace location, or financial details, publicly or with strangers.
  • Verify Authenticity: Be cautious of users who refuse to share additional photos or videos.

2. Encouraged Behavior

  • Authentic and respectful communication across all connection types
  • Professional networking, friendship building, and social connections
  • Honest profile representation with recent, accurate photos and information
  • Communicate your intentions clearly when connecting with others
  • Respecting others' boundaries, time, privacy, and preferences
  • Using our platform's safety features appropriately
  • Be mindful of shared and public environments
  • Reporting violations to help keep the community safe

3. Prohibited Content & Behavior

Zero Tolerance Policy

The following violations result in immediate account suspension or termination:

  • Illegal Activity: Any illegal behavior including solicitation, trafficking, controlled substances, weapons sales, or coordination of illegal acts.
  • Harassment & Threats: Threatening, stalking, intimidating, or harassing other users on or off the platform.
  • Hate Speech: Discrimination, slurs, or hateful content based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or medical condition.
  • Minors: Users under 18, content involving minors, or any attempt to contact or solicit minors. LinkNow complies with COPPA and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
  • Explicit Content: Unsolicited sexual content, nudity, explicit messages, or pornographic material.
  • Violence: Threats of violence, promoting harmful activities, or content depicting graphic violence.
  • Scams & Fraud: Financial scams, catfishing, phishing, impersonation, or fraudulent schemes.
  • Self-Harm: Content promoting, glorifying, or encouraging self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.

Location & Proximity Violations

  • GPS Spoofing: Faking, manipulating, or spoofing your GPS location to deceive others or circumvent proximity features.
  • Stalking: Using location features to follow, target, surveil, or track users in real life.
  • Location Harassment: Repeatedly appearing at someone's location after being asked to stop or blocked.
  • Luring: Using the app or events to lure users into dangerous, isolated, or compromising real-world situations.

Event-Related Violations

  • Fake Events: Creating misleading, fraudulent, or non-existent events.
  • Predatory Events: Creating events designed to exploit, harm, or deceive attendees.
  • Event Spam: Creating excessive duplicate events or events for commercial solicitation without permission.
  • Dangerous Gatherings: Organizing events that promote illegal activity, violence, or unsafe conditions.

Communication Violations

  • Spam: Commercial promotion, bot accounts, chain messages, or repetitive unwanted messages.
  • Connection Spam: Mass-sending unsolicited friend requests or messages to users.
  • Unsolicited Content: Sending unwanted explicit images, videos, or links.
  • Manipulation: Using deceptive tactics to obtain personal information, money, or favors.

Account & Identity Violations

  • Multiple Accounts: Creating multiple accounts or fake profiles.
  • Impersonation: Pretending to be another person, celebrity, or entity.
  • Age Misrepresentation: Lying about your age to use the platform or bypass restrictions.
  • Profile Deception: Using fake photos, stolen images, or intentionally misleading profile information.
  • Account Trading: Selling, buying, or transferring accounts. Pro subscriptions are non-transferable.

Privacy Violations

  • Doxxing: Sharing others' private information (real name, address, phone number, workplace) without consent.
  • Screenshot Abuse: Sharing private conversations, profiles, or location data externally without consent.
  • Privacy Circumvention: Attempting to bypass other users' privacy settings.
  • Data Harvesting: Collecting user data for commercial purposes or unauthorized use.

Platform Abuse

  • Report Abuse: Filing false, malicious, or frivolous reports against other users.
  • Block Evasion: Creating new accounts to circumvent blocks, bans, or other safety measures.
  • Feature Exploitation: Exploiting bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities in the platform.
  • Third-Party Abuse: Using unauthorized third-party apps, bots, or scripts to interact with LinkNow.
  • Unauthorized Commercial Use: Using the app primarily for advertising, solicitation, or selling services without permission.

4. Profile Guidelines

Photos

  • Use recent photos (within the last 2 years) showing your face clearly
  • No group photos as your primary image
  • No photos of minors (including your own children)
  • No photos of celebrities or public figures (unless you are that person)
  • No copyrighted material, watermarked images, or stock photos
  • No explicit, nude, or sexually suggestive images
  • No photos depicting illegal activity, violence, or drug use
  • No photos with weapons prominently displayed
  • No photos with contact information, social media handles, or URLs

Information

  • Be honest about your age, location, and intentions
  • Misrepresentation may result in account termination
  • Don't include contact information in your bio or profile text
  • Don't advertise products, services, or other platforms

Appropriate Content

  • Keep profiles friendly and appropriate for all audiences
  • No explicit imagery or offensive language
  • No hate symbols, slurs, or discriminatory content
  • No promotion of illegal activities

Authenticity

  • You must be the person in your photos
  • Represent yourself accurately
  • Use your real age (you must be 18+)

5. Enforcement & Consequences

We take violations of these guidelines seriously. Our Trust & Safety team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action based on the severity and frequency of violations.

Consequence Levels

  • Warning: First-time or minor violations may result in an official warning to prevent further misconduct.
  • Content Removal: Violating content may be removed from profiles, messages, or events.
  • Temporary Suspension: Repeated or moderate violations result in temporary account suspension (1-30 days).
  • Permanent Ban: Severe violations or repeated offenses lead to permanent account termination. Banned users may not create new accounts.
  • Legal Action: Illegal activity will be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

Appeals Process

If you believe your account was actioned in error, you may submit an appeal to support@linknowapp.com within 30 days. Include your account email and a detailed explanation. Appeals are reviewed within 4-5 business days.

6. Reporting & Support

Help us maintain a safe, welcoming community:

Report Issues

Use the in-app reporting feature on any profile or event that violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed by our Safety team.

Block Users

Block anyone who makes you uncomfortable immediately. You don't need a reason. Blocked users cannot see your profile, message you, or interact with you.

Contact Us

  • General Support: For questions or concerns, reach out to support@linknowapp.com
  • Emergency: If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services before contacting us.

What Happens When You Report

  1. Your report is received and logged by our system
  2. Our Safety team reviews the report (usually within 24-48 hours)
  3. We investigate the reported user/content
  4. Appropriate action is taken based on our guidelines
  5. You may receive a follow-up notification regarding the outcome

Reports are confidential. The reported user will not know who reported them.

False Reports: Submitting false, misleading, or malicious reports may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of your account. Repeatedly abusing the reporting system to harass or target other users is a violation of these Guidelines.

Moderation Access: When you report an account or message, our moderation team may access chat messages, profile information, media, and related conversation history to investigate the report. This access is limited to content directly related to the investigation. Reported content is retained for up to 1 year for safety and legal compliance, then automatically deleted.

7. Changes to Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines periodically to reflect changes in our platform, legal requirements, or community needs. We'll notify users of significant changes via:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email to your registered address

Continued use of LinkNow after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines. We encourage you to review these guidelines periodically.
